University of Nigeria Ambitious Goal to Digitalize the Entire Staff and Students

University of Nigeria Ambitious Goal to Digitalize the Entire Staff and Students
Professor Benjamin Chukwuma ozumba (The Vice-Chancellor) of the University of Nigeria,Nsukka in his address on the 45th convocation ceremony of the school stated among others, the school’s plan for the future.
According to him, our plans for the future are encapsulated in a mixture of vision and mission on the hand and vaulting dreams and reality on the other. We are engaging on strong ICT innovation designed to make our graduates employable and in demand in the executive arena. To this end, plans are on-going with a Chinese outfit to set up a plant for the manufacture of Lion Laptops and other kinds of electronics. This will, obviously, lead to the digitalization of the entire staff and students of the University of Nigeria. The administration is examining the possibility of finding a permanent solution to accommodation on campus. The plan is to engage private organizations towards creating a conducive environment that will foster research, teaching, learning, morality, and good health on our campus. And it is important to inform you, ladies and gentlemen, that we shall continue to improve the ranking of the University of Nigeria until we become the best in the world!

Furthermore, it is heart-warming to report that the present administration of the University was given a special commendation by the National Universities Commission as the only Federal university that gives out certificates to all granduands on graduation day. Despite this busy schedule, we have produced graduands who have been found worthy in character and in learning to receive the degree of this University. In this 45th Convocation ceremony, we are graduating a total of 13,554 candidates distributed as follows: 85 First Class Honours; 3,040 Second Class Honours, Upper division; 7,286 Second Class Honours, Lower Division; 2,237 Third Class Honours; and 257 pass Degrees. In the Diploma and Certificate courses, 180 candidates graduated, while 469 candidates obtained unclassified degrees from faculties of Dentistry, Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.
Integration of morality and intellect are very imperative to the University of Nigeria. As a result, we do not produce graduates who are selfish, immoral, and hypocritical, graduates who lack even the pretence of concern about their reputations. Our graduates are conversant with the fact that though everyone does not do the right thing, everyone knows what it is. They recognize the absurdity of the argument that because society is corrupt, it is better for one to be corrupt.
It is necessary to inform you, my dear graduands, that graduates of the University of Nigeria who work in various outfits earn the praise of their bosses and the admiration of their colleagues because of their determination, self-reliance, and keen eye for efficiency...
