OpenCon 2017
SPARC and the Right to Research Coalition, in
partnership with the Max Planck Society, are excited to announce that OpenCon
2017 will take place on November 11-13 in Berlin, Germany at the Max Planck Society’s
Harnack House. Applications to attend OpenCon will open on June 27th. You are
an important ambassador for the role that students and early career academic
professionals can play in advancing Open Access, Open Education, and Open Data.
Any help you can provide in spreading the word about OpenCon—either in
person or online—is deeply appreciated. If you have just a few seconds, you
could share these posts on Twitter and Facebook, or of course write your own. As
members of the OpenCon community, you’re also a critical source of feedback on
potential topics, speakers, and the overall structure of the program. You can
provide suggestions to our Organizing Committee here.
OpenCon 2017 builds on the
success of the first three OpenCon conferences held in Washington, DC and
Brussels, which collectively convened approximately 500 participants from 80
countries. OpenCon’s 70+ satellite events, held by volunteers around the world,
have hosted over 4,100 attendees across 32 countries. We’re working to extend
the reach of satellite events even further this year. If you're interested in
hosting an event, you can find more information, express your interest, or
submit an event plan on our satellite events page. Thank
you for all of your efforts and your continued involvement in the OpenCon
community!
Best,
The OpenCon Organizing Team
